Spud of the Horatio Exploration Well
OMV Norge AS, as the operator of PL 1109, has commenced the drilling of the Horatio prospect in the North Sea.
The Horatio exploration well (35/6-6) is located in the northern part of the North Sea, 20 kilometers Northwest of the Gjøa field. The water depth at the well site is 354 meters. The well is being drilled by the rig Transocean Norge on behalf of OMV Norge AS.
Transocean Norge is a semi-submersible rig designed for operations in harsh environments and has been converted to a low emission drilling unit. The drilling campaign is expected to last up to 55 days in the event of a discovery. OMV will utilize supply base services from Mongstad and helicopter transport services from Bergen for this operation.
As the operator of PL 1109, OMV Norge AS holds 30% working interest and is joined by license partners DNO Norge AS (30%) Pandion Energy AS (20%) and AkerBP ASA (20%).
The production license was awarded by the Norwegian Ministry of Energy in 2021, as part of the Awards in Pre-defined Areas (APA) 2020.
